A letter from Mike Trethewey, Henley RFC Chairman

A few weeks ago I announced my decision to vacate the position of Chairman at the AGM in May.

Formal notice of the AGM will be posted in mid-April and included on the agenda will be the election of officers. This note will explain the background to the election process.

Despite the existence of two distinct legal entities within our club (Henley Rugby Club Limited and Henley Rugby Football Club Limited), the management of our activities is performed by a board of directors who are officers of both companies. Any other situation is not feasible, so election will be to the board of both companies.

Gary Parke, Financial Director and Mike Thomas, President, are required to retire on an annual basis and both offer themselves for re-election. On relinquishing the Chairmanship I shall resign as a director.

Thus we will have 3 positions to be filled.  As members and/or shareholders you have the opportunity to nominate candidates to fill these positions

At the moment we have received one nomination - for Chris Nixon to fill the Chairman position -  and Gary Parke and Mike Thomas automatically nominated for re-election. Should any of you wish to propose other candidates please advise Mary within the next 2 weeks.  Your proposal needs to be seconded by one other member and accompanied by confirmation from the nominee of his/her willingness to stand for election.  The Board elected at the AGM has power to appoint other directors during the year.

Please make every effort to attend the AGM on 17th May at 7.30pm in the Clubhouse.

Mike Trethewey
