HISTORY IN THE MAKING!
On Tuesday evening at a meeting of the full Henley Town Council it was agreed to fund the Dry Leas Development Project with a £200,000 50/50 grant and loan. Such an amount is unprecedented and represents the Council’s recognition of the importance of the club to the community and their faith in our redevelopment plans.
The first phase, the refurbishment of the club house, will cost £475K and to date we have raised £400K with £100K from SODC, £200K from HTC and £100K so far from members. We need therefore to raise the final £75K and we need to do it fast. We need to have all the money in the bank when we sign the building contracts in January for the work to start at the beginning of May.
That means we have from now to the end of December to raise that £75K. To date, just under 50 very generous members have contributed that £100K, there are nearly 700 of us so the task is certainly achievable but it does mean absolutely everybody has to contribute.
The attached booklet, please down load, further hard copies available at the club, shows the ways you can donate money from a modest £75 for a single paver to the more substantial amounts to have parts of the facility named after you or your family. You can also donate by standing order by completing the attached mandate and returning to Mary at the club (do not send to HSBC, we will arrange that). There are two important things to note
· Details of donations will be recorded in a special legacy book and on an honours board.
· Donations of over £500 will qualify for 30% tax relief under the EIS scheme.
This is the most important development to take place at the club in living memory and the club house refurbishment will totally transform our surroundings and facilities. It will only happen if as individual members we all play our part, don’t leave it to others. By providing such a large proportion of the required funds the two councils have given us a unique opportunity to build something substantial and lasting for future generations .We cannot let them down by not responding.
CAN I MAKE ONE THING ABSOLUTELY CLEAR – IF WE DO NOT RAISE THE £75k BY THE END OF DECEMBER THE PROJECT WILL BE CANCELLED. IT WILL NOT GO AHEAD. WE CANNOT LET THAT HAPPEN.
DONATE GENEROUSLY AND DONATE NOW.
